Volunteers needed as Fox Cities Marathon approaches

NEENAH, Wis. (WFRV) – It’s almost time for runners to lace up their sneakers and take part in the Fox Cities Marathon, but it won’t be possible without the help of volunteers.

There are approximately a dozen volunteer positions remaining for the marathon. From managing water stations to protecting runners crossing the streets, help means a lot to event organizers and the community.

Volunteer Coordinator Cathy Mutschler says, “Year after year, our participants tell us that one of the reasons they keep coming back is the volunteer experience. There are very few races they participate in where there is a volunteer for every mile of the course.

For race organizer Amanda Secor, seeing the community come together is what makes race weekends so successful.

She says, “It’s so much more than a sporting event because people come for all kinds of reasons. They come with different abilities and paces, and their stories are all incredibly important.

The marathon is Sunday, September 18 at 7 a.m. For more details on how you can volunteer or participate in the marathon, click on the links below.
