The County Libertarian Party will host the kickoff
August 9 – In an effort to offer representation to area residents who may not politically identify as “red or blue”, the Hunt County Libertarian Party plans to hold an informational kick-off/rally Thursday at Snuffer’s Restaurant & Bar.
In addition to the launch event, the group also plans to host Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Mark Tippetts, who will speak at the Fletcher Warren Civic Center on Friday, August 19.
“I really believe there are a lot more libertarians out there than people realize,” said Hank Pickering of the Hunt County Libertarian Party. “I think the recent shutdowns during COVID have really shown how people’s freedom can be restricted by big government. We want to give people the chance to be an individual.”
The Hunt County Libertarian Party also hopes to gain exposure by volunteering with local nonprofits.
Kicking off the band this Thursday will be from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Snuffer’s in Greenville.
“From people here, we often hear one of two things: either ‘we’re glad you’re here’ or ‘a third party will never beat one of the two main parties’. But we have to start somewhere and can build from there,” Pickering said. “We invite everyone to come out and learn more about the Libertarian Party.”
As for the visit of Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Mark Tippetts next week, it will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 19 at the Fletcher Warren Civic Center.
So far, Tippetts has operated on a platform promoting school choice, opposing mandates like those issued during COVID-19, legalizing marijuana, reducing taxes/government spending, and easing legal immigration.
