Blush & Ivory Bridal Company brings new life to downtown Coldwater

Blush & Ivory Bridal Company, at 41 W. Chicago St. in Coldwater, held a grand opening on April 1.

Co-owners Allie and Zach Watson, along with family members dressed in the latest evening wear, mingled with well-wishers who admired the newly renovated building.

One half contains dress shelves, the other half houses large dressing rooms for those trying on the dresses. It provides comfortable seating for the mother of the bride and friends who come to shop for formal wear.

The renovated space bears no resemblance to an old business that had been in the building since the bricks were laid decades ago.

“I want to create an experience,” Allie said.

And they did. Also an event planner, Allie knows how to create an event, including the grand opening with flowers, prizes and refreshments.

“I never considered opening a bridal shop,” Allie said.

But she loves the bridal industry, and when she and Zack came up with the idea for a bridal boutique, the pieces quickly fell together. It took long hours to prepare the building to house a destination business, as predicted by Marilyn Ostrander, representing the Coldwater Region Chamber of Commerce.

The goal is for Blush & Ivory to be a one-stop-shop for tuxedo rentals, set rentals, invitations, and to offer event space on the second floor. It will be a boutique for all things formal wear – bridal and wedding party dresses, ball gowns and Quinceañera.
